Celebrating Diversity Through Performance
Wednesday 12-2-2020 at 3:30pm
Please join us for three performances from members of the Elton Abernathy Forensics Society. Johnny Vasallo will perform Angel Rodriguez’s “Hope and Glory”, an intersectional narrative that confronts the privilege inherent in the dominant white queer narrative. Ashton Rios will interpret a selection of pieces that examine the “Trans Panic Defense” and its implications for the trans community. Finally, Noemi Rivera provides a reading of “Pastels and Crayons” by Aleeza Kasmil, where we realize that racism is subtly, yet deliberately, being perpetuated by parents. These pieces examine the implications of diversity and inclusion in a variety of contexts. We hope these performances will open space for reflection and productive discussion.
