About Dr. Cassandra LeClair

Dr. Cassandra LeClair is a lecturer in the Communication Studies Department at Texas State University. Cassandra completed her Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she focused on Interpersonal Family Communication, with a specialization in Women's and Gender Studies. Dr. LeClair teaches a variety of classes, including Fundamentals of Human Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Communication and Gender, and Relational Communication. Cassandra's research focuses primarily in the ways in which individuals and relational partners communicatively cope and negotiate idenity in the face of unexpected or ongoing relational turning points and how this communication is linked to health outcomes. Her dedication to this research is fueled by the desire to increase understanding about communication surrounding crisis, traumatic events, and relational disruption. Cassandra's teaching and research interests fuel her campus and community involvement. She is a board member for the Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County and a trained facilitator for Darkness to Light.
