Operations Intern      - Austin, TX                                                                        Reports to:   VP of Operations & Administration

Position Status:  Intern (unpaid)

Time Commitment: 15 hours per week minimum ** two semester commitment preferred**

(Anytime M-F between 9am-5pm)

Position Overview & Basic Function: The Operations intern will receive broad experience in many facets of the non-profit organization.  This is perfect for the person to aims to find efficient and effective methods to support the operations and resources of the organization. Focus will be on creative problem-solving, organizing processes and communicating best practices and opportunities to our paid and volunteer resources.  This dynamic position will have you working managing data one day, creating a lunch & learn development opportunity for staff another, and then researching vendors to lower costs and increase productivity.  Ability to manage multiple projects and willingness to see the importance of the details will be key to success.

Operations

  • Assist with writing, editing and layout of policy and procedures documents

Required Knowledge & Skills:

Position Overview & Basic Function:

The Communications, Social Media & PR Intern will ideally be a college junior or senior who has studied social media strategy and has strong writing and marketing skills. This position requires excellent advertising writing skills as well as the ability to effectively implement and follow the Komen social media calendar. This position will work closely with the team from INK PR, the Development team as well as the Graphic Design intern to develop, implement and message events and fundraising campaigns.

**Writing samples are required with application.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Komen and INK staff to maintain a consistent voice on social media
  • Monitor social media channels
  • Weekly internal/external communications
  • Data analysis

SAN MARCOS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for an intern who is creative, hard-working, and community driven. We want so someone who is ready to be a part of a team and is excited about the future of San Marcos.

Reports to:      VP of Communications & Events

Functions:  This position works closely with the VP of Communications to develop, implement and manage the Chamber’s image, information and promotions in order to meet the overall goals of the Chamber.

Salary:    $200 a month paid every 2 weeks as a $100 stipend.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Social Media Content
  • Basic graphic design
  • Assist with updating Chamber Communications vehicles, to include but not limited to: website, email blasts, membership materials, program materials, and social media.
  • Assist the Front Desk Manager with front desk duties as needed
  • Work with staff to position, organize and promote all events, special meetings and key activities that are scheduled.
  • Other resoponsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Experience with WordPress and/or coding.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat programs such as Illustrator, InDesign, and other design programs.

Hays County Food Bank Internships

The Marketing & Communications Intern will work directly with the Communications Coordinator to create event collateral, write blogs, press releases and social media blurbs to reach out to the community about Hays County Food Bank’s mission and efforts.

Development Internship

The Development Intern will work directly with the Development & Special Events Coordinator to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor database, track and evaluate fundraising efforts, and organize events.

Special Events Intern

The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Development & Special Events Coordinator to observe and assist with various projects surrounding fundraisers and third party fundraisers.

Video Communications Intern

The Video Communications Intern will work directly with the Communications Coordinator to create videos that highlight food bank events, clients, volunteers, donors, partners, and staff used to engage the community about Hays County Food Bank’s mission and efforts.

Position Overview
The Events/Initiative Intern is responsible for a number of projects that vary in timeframe, scale, and orientation. Communications & Writing Internship

Austin Angels has a few openings for fall 2017 Communications/Writing Interns and would love it if you would consider applying with us! Austin Angels is a local non-profit that supports foster care children. We are a community of volunteers and advocates that come together to uplift the most vulnerable youth in our country. These children have been removed from their home because they have been neglected, abandoned, or are the victims of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. They need the temporary protection and nurturing that a foster family can provide. We support these kids and the foster parents who care for them. We currently serve over 150 kids in  the Austin area.

Your role as a communications intern:

This internship gives real hands-on experience at a local non-profit and one-on-one personal coaching and mentoring; requiring the commitment and investment of its participants – provides the “learning” and “experience” it takes to thrive as a committed, competent and effective leader within the nonprofit community.

This course is committed to the Austin Angels mission and to impact the students’ life with purpose, service, and leadership. Austin Angels expects students to become value-centered and ethical leaders who want to positively influence and impact their community. 

Interns are passionately committing to making a difference in our community by investing and sharing the responsibility to care for our children in the foster care system.
