Internships may be available to students majoring in Communication Studies with at least a 2.75 overall GPA (3.0 preferred), have permission from the department internship committee and the department chair, and have completed COMM 3319 Organizational Communication with a grade of an A or B. TDNA's 2010 Intern Program

The Texas Daily Newspaper Association intern program is the largest of its kind in the US! Gain hands-on experience in reporting, editing, photography, multimedia, web design and more. Students are also eligible for the annual H.H. Fentress Award, granting prestige and a cash prize!

POSITION DESCRIPTION: While becoming immersed in the daily activities of this diverse agency, interns will have the opportunity to learn specifics of accounting functions within the entertainment, media, and show business industries.

Texas State Comptroller's Office - Marketing/Outreach Unpaid Internship
The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts(CPA) is a state agency and is the chief steward of the state’s finances, acting as tax collector, chief accountant, chief revenue estimator and chief treasurer for all of state government. The Comptroller’s office provides a wide variety of assistance for business owners, local officials and individuals across the state. The Comptroller's office has developed an internship program that can assist students transitioning from school to work by allowing student to gain actual work experience. The CPA Internship Program matches interns with mentors. The mentors work closely with the interns to provide daily instruction and project oversight. The CPA Internship Programs can also work with university college professors so that participating interns can earn college credit toward their undergraduate or graduate degree programs. 

CPA is actively recruiting students to participate in the Texas Unclaimed Property Outreach program. This program is a statewide marketing program to promote www.ClaimItTexas.org and reunite Texans with their missing money. Interns will work closely with professional staff to promote grass roots promotions for the program throughout Texas. Interns will assist with marketing efforts from providing administrative support to developing and distributing brochures. Interns may attend local expos, conferences and town meetings.

Minimum Requirements:
CPA is looking for students who thrives on learning and developing professional marketing and outreach skills while working for a fast pace government agency. This internship provides students with opportinities to learn a variety of marketing/outreach related tasks as well as learn how state government works. Applicants must be team players with a positive attitudes and have the desire to learn. Preference will be given to highly organized and detail-oriented individuals.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college or university with coursework in marketing or business.

LEGISLATIVE INTERN - Capitol and District Offices, District 52
Office of State Representative Diana Maldonado
is seeking applicants interested in participating in a legislative internship. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining substantive policy experience and learning more about the legislative process. There are two locations available for these positions. One is located in downtown Austin at thestate capitol and the other is located at the district office in Round Rock. Please specify which office you are interested in. The positions are unpaid. Interns should have relatively flexible schedules.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor legislation and provide analysis to Rep. Maldonado and staff.
· Represent the office in meetings with stakeholders and constituents.
· Conduct policy analysis.
· Assist in team's effort to maintain constituent services database.
· Assist in researching and responding to correspondence.

RAINN SPRING INTERNSHIP IN WASHINGTON DC - UNPAID
RAINN is seeking communication interns to work with the Marketing Coordinator and Public Relations manager under the Vice President of Communications. College students with a Communication, Public Relations, English major, or an interest in the issue of sexual assault are encouraged to apply. Currently, RAINN is working on a large volunteer recruitment campaign for the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline, which is a revolutionary new service available for victims of sexual assault. The communication intern will assist with promotional efforts and media relations. Responsibilities will include: volunteer recruitment, internet research, media database creation and maintenance, web-based social networking, possibly some writing/correspondence, special events assistance, media pitching, and organizational and college outreach. MOBILE FILM SCHOOL SPRING 2009 INTERNSHIP - UNPAID
The Mobile Film School, a non-profit media arts organization, takes digital filmmaking on the road, offering a series of workshops, on-going educational programming, and resources to rural and underserved communities. The internship program offers college students the opportunity to develop a working knowledge of and gain experience in the film, education, and nonprofit industries. We are seeking student with excellent communication skills who want to learn how these industries work, and contribute to the Mobile Film School's efforts to promote and expand media literacy and film education in rural communities across the United States.
